This October, Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift and Pensoft head to Crete for the European Congress of Entomology 2023

From the 16th to 20th October, the XII European Congress of Entomology (ECE 2023) will be held in Heraklion, Crete. Scientists from around the globe will gather on the Greek island to exchange information and research results related to entomology.

The event, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary, is expected to welcome more than 600 participants. It is organised by the Hellenic Entomology Society, who strive to promote the science of entomology in Greece and beyond.

Speakers will present to an audience consisting of researchers and academics from a diverse range of entomology-related fields, as well as policy-makers, field agronomists, crop protection experts, medical practitioners, engineers, social scientists and artists.

The congress programme will include invited lectures from international experts, numerous symposia, oral and poster sessions, and satellite seminars. The thematic sessions of the event are:

  • Morphology and systematics
  • Genetics and evolutionary biology
  • Physiology and biochemistry 
  • Ecology and behaviour
  • Multitrophic interactions
  • Insect biotechnology
  • Symbiosis and insect pathology 
  • Urban and forest entomology
  • Medical and veterinary entomology
  • Invasion biology and climate change
  • Biodiversity and conservation 
  • Social insects and apidology
  • Toxicology and pesticide resistance
  • Biological control and biopesticides
  • Integrated pest management
  • Stored product protection

Conference participants can find the Pensoft stand at booth 10 on the 3rd floor of the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion. There they can discover its portfolio of journals that are interested in entomology, and learn more about Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift's latest news.

Pensoft will also advocate for the EU-funded projects B-GOOD and Safeguard, which are dedicated to the protection and replenishment of bees and other pollinators. Pensoft is a key partner for both projects, contributing expertise in science communication, dissemination, scholarly publishing and development of digital tools and platforms.
